Terra Nostra Park: tickets, opening hours and the thermal pool
Plan a garden and thermal-pool visit in Furnas: current admission prices, daytime opening, what to bring and how to fit Terra Nostra into your day.
Is Terra Nostra Park worth choosing?
Choose Terra Nostra Park if you want a botanical garden visit as well as a thermal bath. The admission covers the garden, thermal pool and jacuzzis; it is not a pool-only ticket. In Furnas on São Miguel, this is the stronger choice for someone who wants time walking through planted grounds before changing for a bath. For a late-evening soak instead, Poça da Dona Beija has later public opening. Terra Nostra’s ordinary visitor hours are daytime hours; the hotel-guest arrangements are different.
Terra Nostra: visitor informationTickets and the 15-day booking window
The official ticket office checked on 24 October 2026 lists a one-day adult ticket for ages 18–64 at €17, youth admission for ages 6–17 at €14.50 and senior admission at €14.50. The family ticket shown is €57 for two adults and two youths. Select the correct category rather than assuming every member of a family pays the adult rate. Tickets are tied to the selected date. Online availability is released only 15 days ahead: a date beyond that window is not evidence of a sell-out. Azores-resident discounted tickets are available at the physical ticket office. The stated refund exception is closure of the park for safety reasons, potentially because of adverse weather; a change of personal plans is not the same thing.
Terra Nostra: official dated tickets and pricesOpening hours: plan around a 16:30 close
The published public schedule is 10:30–16:30, Monday to Sunday and holidays, with closure on 25 December. Entry can start until 30 minutes before closing, but that leaves little time for a garden-and-pool visit. Visitors should begin leaving within the final ten minutes. Allow roughly two to three hours as an editorial planning allowance if you want both the grounds and changing time. That is not a recommended time in the hot water. The venue tells bathers not to remain in the pool or jacuzzis for more than 30 minutes. Arriving early in the opening period gives more flexibility than arriving after a long lunch.
Terra Nostra: schedule and admissionBring a dark swimsuit and cover up in the garden
The park describes its iron-rich water as 38–42°C. Choose an older dark swimsuit: iron can mark fabric and affect hair, nails and nail polish. Rinse swimwear promptly before it dries. Bring a towel, dry clothes and a bag for wet items rather than relying on a rental service. Changing rooms, showers and lockers are available. Shower before and after bathing. Swimwear alone is not allowed when circulating in the garden, so bring something to wear over it. Do not jump or dive, eat or drink in the pool, or bring alcoholic beverages.
Terra Nostra: thermal-water facilities and conductBathing is optional, and admission is not medical clearance
You can make this a garden visit without entering the hot water. The venue advises against pool use for several conditions, including open wounds, infectious disease and certain heart conditions; it asks pregnant, immunosuppressed and other medically affected visitors to consult a doctor beforehand. Read the full venue guidance rather than treating the warm water as a treatment. Adults must supervise children. For a mixed group, decide who actually wants to bathe before building the day around the pool. Free or discounted admission does not establish that hot-water bathing is suitable for a child or adult.
Terra Nostra: bathing recommendationsGetting to the entrance and using the rest of the day
The entrance address is Largo Marquês da Praia e Monforte, 9675-037 Furnas. This is a village stop, not the lakeside caldeiras. A drive or organised trip to Furnas must leave enough time inside the park before 16:30; a tour mentioning Furnas does not by itself include this ticket. The park’s parking entitlement is stated for hotel guests, so do not assume a day ticket includes hotel parking. A workable day is a lake stop in the morning, an early lunch and the park in the early afternoon. If the garden is your priority, reverse that and enter at 10:30. Leave the lake circuit or a second paid bath out if it would compress the main visit.
