Poça da Dona Beija: tickets, evening prices and the 90-minute visit
Book the Furnas thermal pools with the correct day or evening price, understand the 90-minute limit, and plan towels, parking and your return journey.
Choose Poça da Dona Beija for a focused bath
Poça da Dona Beija is a thermal-bathing site at Lomba das Barracas in Furnas, São Miguel. Choose it for a short pool visit or evening bathing rather than a botanical-garden outing. The ticket allows a maximum of 1 hour and 30 minutes on the premises, so changing and showering need to fit within your visit. The operator describes four pools at around 39°C. This is hot-water bathing, not a swimming session: swimming, jumping and diving are prohibited. For a garden and bath together, Terra Nostra is a different visit.
Poça da Dona Beija: official FAQsDaytime and evening ticket prices
The official FAQ checked on 24 October 2026 lists general entry at €12 per person until 17:30 and €16 from 18:00 onwards. For children aged 2–6 the listed prices are €10 until 17:30 and €14 from 18:00, with identification required. Children under 2 enter free; minors need an accompanying adult. The published wording leaves a half-hour boundary between the two price descriptions. Choose the actual entry option offered by the official booking site rather than inferring a price for an unlisted 17:45 arrival. Evening opening costs more; it does not extend the 90-minute visit allowance.
Poça da Dona Beija: ticket categories and price periodsBuy online, keep the QR code and do not assume flexible entry
The operator says tickets are purchased exclusively online. Use the official booking site linked from its homepage and retain the QR code in digital or printed form for admission. Its FAQ also describes entry as first-come, first-served; an advance purchase is not a promise that every queue disappears. Follow the date and entry conditions on your actual ticket. The stated policy does not allow cancellation, exchange or refund of purchased tickets. Settle your Furnas transport and likely arrival before paying, especially if you are visiting as part of a third-party tour. Do not buy a second ticket just because a tour description mentions the pools without first establishing whether entry is included.
Poça da Dona Beija: booking and refund rulesOpening hours and the late return journey
Normal published hours are 08:30–23:00, with last admission at 21:30 and everyone out of the pools by 22:30. The closing time is not a last-entry time. Arrange your return journey before choosing an evening visit: a late pool session is simpler from a Furnas stay than when it depends on an unconfirmed onward bus or pickup. The homepage currently advertises holiday exceptions: 08:30–16:00 on 24 and 31 December, closed on 25 December, and 11:00–21:30 on 1 January. These notices override the generic everyday schedule; use the booking calendar for your date.
Poça da Dona Beija: current homepage noticesBring your own towel; budget separately for a locker
Bring a towel, swimwear, dry clothes and a bag for wet items. The homepage currently says towel hire is temporarily unavailable, despite the FAQ retaining a rental price. Do not depend on hiring one at reception. The FAQ lists locker hire at €2 with a refundable €20 cash deposit. Cold showers are included; the facilities page lists a coin-operated hot shower at €1. Take the cash needed for the service you plan to use. Iron-rich water can mark clothing and affect dyed or bleached hair and nail polish; the operator recommends a shower cap for vulnerable hair and avoiding jewellery.
Poça da Dona Beija: facilities and recommendationsParking and access to the pools
The venue’s entrance car park cannot accommodate all visitors at busy times. Its published alternative is the Furnas Basic School 1,2,3/JI car park, a short walk away. Use the venue’s parking map and current local signs; allow for that walk before your entry. Access around the premises is not the same as step-free entry into the water. The operator says pool access is only by stairs or steps and it does not provide accompanying staff. This matters more than a general description of the premises as accessible.
Poça da Dona Beija: parking optionsHealth rules and what not to bring
The operator advises pregnant visitors and parents of babies to consult a doctor or paediatrician before thermal bathing. Its rules also warn against bathing with an unhealed wound, recent surgery or trauma, or relevant illness. A child’s free admission is not approval to bathe in hot water. Follow the full venue guidance and staff instructions. Food, alcohol and glass containers are not allowed. Shower before and after, do not drink the thermal water, and leave the pools when adverse weather such as thunder or lightning makes staff direct you out. The 90-minute ticket limit is a premises allowance, not advice to remain continuously immersed.
