Vila do Porto suits a town-based stay; Praia Formosa or São Lourenço means a different onward road journey. Agree collection for the booked arrival if hiring a car, or pre-arrange a transfer to the actual address. Do not return a São Miguel rental at PDL and assume the Santa Maria hire is part of the same agreement.
Price the whole move, not a headline fare
Compare the dated fare for each direction, its baggage allowance and change conditions, São Miguel airport transport, Santa Maria collection or transfer, and any extra overnight created by the flight times. This guide does not quote an undated fare. For a brief stop, decide whether the usable time after arrival and before departure justifies those transfers; a return flight on the same day is not automatically a useful island visit.
